At Crosstown the project redeveloped an existing dealership to address GM image and branding standards, consolidation and reorganization of functional areas in the building and on the site and provide enhanced project components; a new showroom, wash / detailing bays, services bays and parts storage areas.

Key Features

Consolidation
The site plan consolidated sales, administration and service program areas into one building, removing other buildings from the site providing more display areas and better access to the new facility.
Branding
The new building image aligned with GM image standards and was coordinated with existing building areas and infrastructure that remained on the site. The new image renewed the existing facility.
Construction
Material and method used to construct the project were focused on providing value for dollar at each opportunity. Pre-engineered building methods and cladding types were used to provide economical building solutions.

Solutions

  • The design team worked with the existing aging building; reworking existing building system that could be salvaged and providing new systems and spaces to re-image the dealership.
  • A detailed sequencing plan was developed for the construction of the project. The plan included the provision of temporary trailers on the site to accommodate sales staff during the construction of the new showroom.
  • Value engineering studies were completed to evaluate the building systems and guide the selection of building systems to achieve the budget target.
